Happy Thanksgiving

  • Nov. 23rd, 2007 at 2:10 PM

Hoping yours went well.  I went to my sister's for the real turkey day and cooked for ours today.  I will not be fixing another turkey until next Thanksgiving so the family better enjoy it now...
Buddy the Goober Dog loves food.   Since I had him to the vets early this summer for a allergy related ear infection, he has gained 10 pounds.  The problem with putting him on a diet is that we also have Mr. Chewy the World's Mightiest Hunter (in His Own Mind).  There is not one ounce of fat on Mr. Chewy.  If it weren't for his fluffy fur, people would thing we were starving him.  He just is very active and only spends as much time as he needs for a good meal at the bowl.  If he could only teach that to Buddy...
Despite the fact that I only fix turkey once a year, those dogs have kept an eye on me every since they smell that raw turkey enter the house.  Does anyone know how hard it is to fix a thanksgiving meal while continually stepping over an 80 pound and a 40 pound dog?  They did not want that bird out of their sight... Think I have given them too many scraps while carving the bird in the past.  *sigh*
I think I will be thankful for healthy, happy dogs even if one of them is fat.   The kids will beg to differ as they have canine company while doing the dishes right now...
