This could also be titled "why do car manufacturers have to be so stubborn about trying to make us go to dealerships?"

The reverse light went out in one of my tail lights on my little pickup. No problem, I've already changed both brake lights and know the reverse light takes the same bulb, same set up as the brake lights. The bulbs come in packages of 2 when bought at Wallyworld. Gee, one of the two lights in the third taillight above the back glass is out...a possible use for the second bulb?

AS I go to change the burned out bulb in the third taillight, I discover that I need a special screwdriver to remover the cover...one that has 6 edges instead of the 4 edges on the phillips screwdriver in my hand. *sigh* Ok, there is still one of the 2 lights working in that taillight so not an imperative to replace right at the moment. Skip ahead to this morning, I stop at the local auto parts store after dropping oldest off at school for a Drama club thing and pay $4 for the specialized tool...only to discover that the stoopid third taillight takes a different bulb..... I hope WallyWorld carries these bulbs too before I lose the second bulb in the third taillight and the local fuzz sees dollars signs. *sigh*

Geez, I just read that back and things like "second bulb of the third tail light" jump out at me. Maybe we humans HAVE been assimilated into the Borg and resistance really is futile...Or maybe I need a Star Trek fix. Either way, I feel really resistant to doing what I'm expected to do today. I declare it Resistance Day. Everyone find one thing (at least) and resist it!

reworking the old phrase

  • Apr. 22nd, 2008 at 7:56 AM

"Smell of the greasepaint, roar of the crowd." I hear by reword it to "smell of the grease, roar of the engine." After driving all over town yesterday, I went to drive my trusty little pickup to work yesterday and found the battery dead. No roar of the engine for me. Sigh. Had to call off work as there was no other vehicle here and then wait an hour for AAA to show up and jump start the thing. Then spent the evening Changing the battery to one that is NOT 6-7 years old. I don't think the Manufacturers want the average Joe to be able to do such a simple task anymore... the battery had it's teminals on the FRONT not the top of the battery and Chevy did not leave enough room for my socket set to get in and turn the screws. I'd like to turn the screws on them...

Other news is that the eldest daughter and her boyfriend of nine months broke up. He did it by sending her a test message in the middle of the night. Next Weekend is prom and I just bought the dress for her. I don't know whether to be relieved the drama might be ending or whether to be upset along with her. They were joined at the hip and now she doesn't know anything about who she is without him. Teenagers...
