Mercury is in retrograde again, I think...

  • Feb. 8th, 2008 at 1:14 PM

My friend the astrology person says that Mercury is again in retrograde which is usually signaled by things like miscommunication, computer problems and the like. I have no choice but to believe her. I have spend the last two days trying use the internet between messages of "Netscape cannot find the server at ???.com" or discovering the mail server would not connect, or something else. *sigh*
On top of that I still have not heard back from the job interview on Wednesday. I decided to drive back up to the interview place today since I do not have their phone number or direct email. This time I am greeted at the door by a young kid who looks like he should be sitting in class at the high school with my eldest daughter. According to him, they are interviewing through next Tuesday so it will be Tuesday at the latest before I hear back. Supposedly he will check on this for me...
Why do I feel like laughing when I see someone who I would guess is barely 20 yrs old in a managerial position? Of course that may be a response to fact that I try to ignore that I'm getting old.
Speaking of sights I find somewhat interesting, on my way home from talking to the youngster up at the possible new job, I was followed down the road by this biker dude. He had the head bandanna thing, the leather vest and leather jacket complete with chains and those little skull patches. I cannot tell you what kind of pants he had on - he was driving a rather plain looking white minivan. Yep, Biker Dude drove a minivan. One more stereotype ruined...
I will leave you with a little sketch I drew a while back just because...

Mercury retrograde?

  • Oct. 17th, 2007 at 12:24 PM

A lady on another web page is heavy in to astrology.  According to her we are in the middle of Mercury Retrograde so that there is a lost of SNAFU going on.  I can believe it right now.  I spent a large part of my night at work last night wishing I could take the very specialized and expensive equipment we use and just explode it through he concrete block wall of the store we were doing inventory for.  And if any of the equipment was able to keep two pieces of plastic together it was supposed to then be run over by a passing semi carrying loads way Way WAY over the local road weight limit.  Can you tell I was not having a good night?
Well that luck has carried over to today.  I tried to print the latest addition to my book (I like having a hard copy rather than just leaving documents on the 'puter, I'm old fashioned that way) we the printer stopped working.  It was out of black ink.  So I changed what I was trying to print to red (I have lots of red in the red ink cartridge) and it still would not print.  Long story short, if I run out of black ink, none of the colors will print.  So an hour later (you also have to make sure and align the print head or the thing also messes up) I finally get to print my 6 pages.  Yes, six pages.
In the middle of trying to keep myself from destroying the printer, the local high school calls.  They have my Daughter listed as being absent from school.  Now I have no idea how she got to school, that was her daddy's job this morning as I got in from work at 4:OO in the morning.  I was fast asleep when she left.  So how do you get a hold of a teenager who is "not in school"?  You text message her.  Come to find out, she was taking the PSAT and no one check the list of PSAT takers against the list of kids not in class.  She WAS at the school.  Boneheads - lost my daughter in their very own hallways and I have to track her down.  Makes me wonder about the IQ of the people I have entrusted to teach my kids. (sorry to any teachers reading this - on 3 hours of sleep thanks to dogs I get very, um, mean and the problem was more with the administration than the teachers anyway.)
On the story front, it is up to almost 47,000 words and about to start chapter 10.  As a facilitator of the writing seminars for the large various SciFi/Fanatasy - gaming cons, Jean Rabe would say I going about this wrong way and she is most probably right.  But daggonit I have had little sleep so let me alone for awhile.

Time for lunch.  wonder what I can get to NOT work now...
